Virtual Assistant Courses for Stay-at-Home Moms
mom work from home

Becoming a Virtual Assistant is extremely exciting! With more employers working from home, Virtual Assistants are in demand and have become more popular with moms wanting to stay home with their children. Moms, if you are anything like me, you have done all the research you can to help you decide if virtual assistance is right for you. As a Virtual Assistant myself, I am giving you the top-rated courses that I believe will help you succeed in this business and be able to raise your children at home.

Let's Get Real

First, decide what type of work you want to do. What are your strengths? Can you niche down?

Being able to niche down to one topic, for example, Real Estate, you will have an upper hand at getting clients faster and being able to target your audience quicker than someone who does not have a target audience.

Or would you rather try out as a general VA, someone that does a little bit of everything? This is very important because before you launch your business, you need to know what you can do and are willing to do. This will also help you pick your course based on the types of training they offer.

Secondly, you will need to decide on the time of your availability. You want to keep this consistent. You can schedule a time around your children's nap time, school pick up, sporting events, school events, dinner time, etc. But it needs to be consistent. Grab a calendar and mark your availability on each day. Those will be your times of operations for your business and you will only operate during those times. There will be times when you will need to be flexible, but we are moms first, then careers second.

After learning a little bit about the top-rated virtual assistant courses, you will have the confidence to choose the right course for you.

This post is all about virtual assistant courses that every stay-at-home mom should know about.

Top-Rated Virtual Assistant Training Courses

#1 The Virtual Savvy (affiliate link: by clicking this link I will receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your support)

Virtual Assistant Services

The first course that I looked into, and completely fell in love with is The Virtual Savvy. A fun, youthful, and spirited Abby Ashley founded The Virtual Savvy. She is just a delight to learn from and her team is AMAZING! All the courses are easy to follow and very informational. There are about 80+ courses that are available to you, and you can work on your own time.

The program includes a private Facebook group that has a very active community. They also launched their brand-new platform called Hello Savvy which allows you to create a professional profile and apply to freelance jobs. Hello Savvy does come with a monthly/annual price if you plan to take advantage of this awesome perk.

The Virtual Savvy platform is easy to use and follow. It is recommended to follow the introductory courses and not skip around; this is to ensure you are getting the most for your money. None of the courses are locked, you do not need to finish one course to unlock another. The team is very supportive, and the customer service is excellent.

Each training course is different; some are introductory that help you understand the platform and how it works, while others are in-depth with advanced techniques & strategies.

PROS:

  • More than 80 courses are available to choose from and it is always being updated. New courses are added regularly.

  • Membership-based enrollment gives you access to all current and future courses.

  • Very active community in the training and Facebook groups.

  • Exclusive job opportunities are available to Savvy Vault members.

  • Weekly live trainings, updates, and workshops. The team communicates very well.

  • Customer service is the absolute best.

CONS:

  • Some courses are short and introductory. Basic knowledge for a beginner.

  • It is very high in price, however, you get lifetime access.

There are a few payment options for you to choose from. I am not going to include the price because it has changed and may not reflect the correct pricing. The cheapest payment option is to pay in full. This option gives you a discount - one month free. Another option is the three-month installment plan, also with a discount (one month free). Or, the last option and the one that I used was the 12-month payment plan - no discount but affordable for those that are unable to pay in full.

Online Virtual Assistant Courses

The company is based in Canada and was co-founded by Craig and Kelly Cannings. Both Craig, Kelly, and their team are knowledgeable and supportive when it comes to training. The platform is built like a university for freelancers, virtual assistants, and online businesses. You have a subject, for example, Social Media, and within that subject, you have sub-courses to gain extra knowledge of all things Social Media. They allow you a printed certificate to proclaim your achievement. You get access to 80+ certificates, workshops, an engaging community, income-building courses, and tons more.

Membership includes a private Facebook group community that is active and posts job opportunities from its partners. They have 80+ certification courses focused on building an online business.

Much like a university, they have student discounts with Honeybook, Flexjobs, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc. The courses are easy to follow and very informational. They have a Job Board section to allow students to apply for jobs with their partners.

PROS:

  • Easy to follow course catalog with all the certificate programs. The catalog is updated every semester.

  • Live Monthly workshops, trainings, updates.

  • In-Depth Practical Courses.

  • Active Private Facebook Group.

  • Exclusive Student Discounts.

  • Specific niche training.

CONS:

  • The platform could be a bit complex if you are not used to classroom platforms.

  • Payment does not include international fees to United States students.

The downside with the payment method is that the business is based in Canada, so there is an international fee applied to United States students using a debit card or a U.S. bank to pay. Check with your financial institution if they will waive the international fees, some banks do. This is also a monthly membership; once you cancel the membership, you will no longer be able to access the school.
